What is the curbing process?

Our process is simple, transparent, and designed to keep you informed every step of the way.

Step 1: Initial Estimate
We begin by providing a ballpark estimate based on your project. If approved, we’ll schedule a visit to your property to provide a final quote. During this visit, we’ll walk the area with you to discuss design, layout, curves, and overall flow. We’ll also review details like parking, access, and water hookups.

Step 2: Scheduling Your Installation
Once approved, we’ll schedule your project within an installation week rather than a specific day. This allows flexibility due to weather and other factors that can impact timing. If adjustments are needed, we will always keep you informed.

Step 3: Site Preparation
Depending on the size of the project and scheduling, we will either prepare the area ahead of time or the morning of installation. We’ll communicate with you in advance so you know what to expect.

Step 4: Installation Day
On the day of your project, our team will arrive, notify you, and begin setup. While we take care to keep the area as clean as possible, there will be some noise and minor disruption during installation. We treat your property with respect and will clean up once the work is complete.

Step 5: Final Walkthrough & Payment
After installation, we’ll walk the property with you to ensure you’re satisfied with the finished product. Once approved, we’ll collect final payment.

Step 6: Final Sealing
Approximately 5–10 days after installation, we return to apply a final sealer coat to protect and enhance the appearance of your curbing.

Does concrete edging crack?

Concrete is a durable material, but like all concrete, it can develop small cracks over time as it cures and settles. This is a normal part of the process.

To help control this, we install relief joints similar to those you see in sidewalks and driveways. These joints guide where the concrete may crack, helping keep any movement controlled, minimal, and often barely noticeable.

In some decorative, stone-style curbing, you may occasionally see very fine “hairline” or “spider” cracks. These are typically subtle, cosmetic, and do not affect the strength or durability of the curb.

One advantage of natural stone-style curbing is that these minor variations tend to blend in, often resembling the natural textures and character found in real stone.

Is there anything you should do before or after installation?

Before We Arrive

To help ensure a smooth installation, please take a few moments to prepare your property:

  • Mark any underground items such as sprinkler heads, low-voltage wiring, invisible dog fences, or internet cables.
We are not responsible for unmarked items that may be damaged during preparation.
  • If you have a sprinkler system, please turn it off the day or night before installation to avoid working in wet or muddy conditions.
  • If you have pets, we kindly ask that you clean up the yard beforehand.
  • It’s helpful to mow your lawn 1–2 days prior, as you will need to avoid mowing around the new curbing for a few days after installation.

After Installation

Your new curbing will need time to properly set and cure:

Concrete takes time to fully cure. You may notice the color appears darker at first, this is normal.
The final color will begin to show within about 2 weeks, with full curing taking approximately 28 days.

Please keep all foot traffic off the curbing for the first 24 hours.
This includes people, pets, and objects, as the concrete is still soft and can be easily damaged.

Avoid mowing or trimming around the curbing for at least 3–4 days.
Waiting up to a week is even better for best results.

Do not run sprinkler systems for at least 3–4 days after installation.
Again, waiting up to a week is recommended if possible.

Do you remove existing edging or move rock?

In most cases, we do not remove existing edging or relocate rock/stone. If there is a small area that needs minor adjustment during installation, we’re happy to take care of it.

Typically, we install the new curbing just outside of your existing edging. This allows us to achieve the proper height and create a smooth, natural flow that looks clean and consistent with your landscape.
